Norwalk school officials told the Board of Education Finance Committee on Feb. 12 they are closely watching federal and state grant funding and that a timing issue left a Chartwells summer-food invoice of $168,083 charged to the general fund.
CFO Lunda Asmani told the committee that grant funding has fallen since the expiration of ESSER funds: total grant spending in FY24 was about $48 million, and FY25 grant funding is approximately $35 million. He said most grants flow through the state but that the district receives two federal grants directly: a marine-science grant and the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP).…
