Finance committee approves amended minutes and two budget transfers

The Norwalk Board of Education Finance Committee on Feb. 12 approved amended minutes from its Nov. 13 meeting and passed two budget transfer requests intended to reclassify staffing costs to the correct school accounts.
The amended minutes were moved by Board Chair Diane Carpio and seconded by Board Secretary Cara Nelson Baeke; the committee voted to approve the correction. Norwalk Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Lunda Asmani presented the two transfers and explained they were internal reclassifications to improve tracking and accounting.
Asmani said the first transfer moves a music-teacher line into an arts-teacher account “to allow us to do better tracking and accounting in the correct line items.” The second transfer moves a half full-time-equivalent world-language position initially budgeted on the CMS school budget to the Roton school budget, which Asmani said “is where it should be.”
A motion to approve the transfers was made by Cara Nelson Baeke, seconded by Diane Carpio, and the committee approved the transfers.
