Ag boosters ask board to preserve eligibility for state AIG matching grant for high-school agricultural program

Members of the San Marcos High School Ag Boosters told the board on March 13 they were concerned the district might not allow the site to apply for a state Agricultural Incentive Grant (AIG) this year because of possible district-level curriculum changes.
Lance Morgan and Sally Shipman, parents and Ag Boosters members, said teachers had confirmed they met the state curriculum criteria for 2025-26 and that matching local funds were available. They said the state AIG can provide up to $26,000 in matching funds (district match required) and asked the board to consider the program's reliance on such grants before approving budget reductions.
Superintendent Johnson acknowledged receipt of the concern and said he was a "huge fan of the ag program" and would work with staff to get details and report back to the board.
