The Mesa County Valley School District No. 51 Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a contract to sell the Coats Creek Schoolhouse to the neighboring private owners for $10,000.
Board President Heights asked for a motion to approve the contract for the Coats Creek Schoolhouse; a motion and second were made and the board voted. The roll call recorded votes as follows: Mr. Chavez — yes; Mrs. Evenson — yes; Mrs. Heights — yes; Mr. Jones — yes; Ms. Lima — yes. The chair declared the motion approved 5–0.
Board members said the small property — described by staff as an odd parcel surrounded by family ranch land — will be returned to the family that owned or donated the property in prior years and that the Glade Park community will still be able to use the building. The board characterized the sale as a minimal transaction to return a parcel to adjacent owners and preserve community access.
No other motions or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes related to this item.
