Mesa County Valley School District No. 51 board readopts 2024–25 budget, authorizes bond sale and approves related resolutions

Mesa County Valley School District No. 51 Board of Education on an evening meeting approved a midyear readoption of the district's 2024'25 budget, related budget resolutions and a resolution authorizing the sale of bonds.

The actions address midyear adjustments to revenue and expenditures, a reduction in planned use of reserves and a request to pool district cash temporarily; staff also previewed ClearGov, a digital budget book meant to make budget documents interactive and more accessible.

At the meeting finance staff presented the second-quarter financial report, saying revenues and expenses are tracking close to expectations through Dec. 31. The presenters said changes in the state's revenue distribution meant the district had received a higher-than-expected share of revenues at midyear (45.3% of budgeted revenues received, versus a typical 36%), producing improved cash flow and stronger interest earnings.
