Board adopts Envision Mathematics 2024 for elementary grades after pilot and performance review

George told the board that St. Vrain has used earlier Envision editions since 2018 and that teacher feedback and district assessment trends supported continuing with the updated program. He cited the district’s recent Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) results, saying St. Vrain’s percentage of students meeting or exceeding expectations in grade 5 outperformed the state by 11 percentage points.
Two pilot teachers described classroom implementation. Ariane Tasker, a first-grade teacher at Highlands Elementary, said Envision 2024 offers topic introductions, animated math stories, family support materials and a consistent lesson format that supports routine building and daily review. Lisa Alexander, a fourth-grade teacher at Timberline PK–8, highlighted digital manipulatives, projects and vocabulary supports for multilingual learners and said lesson flow (solve-and-share, explicit instruction, guided and independent practice) helps formative assessment and differentiation.
Board members thanked George and the pilot teachers for the work behind the recommendation. President Ragland asked for a motion to approve; the board voted with recorded yes votes and one absence. The motion to adopt Envision Mathematics 2024 carried.
