The Mooresville Town Board of Zoning Appeals on March 13 approved the previous meeting minutes, granted a special exception to allow a massage therapy business tied to an address listed on the agenda as 144 Madison Street, and approved a variance that will let new owners continue the existing use at 51 East High Street.
The approvals came with little public discussion. Taylor Goss, the applicant for the special exception, told the board, "I will be at 219 East High Street, inside a Sip and Shop boutique, and it will be a massage therapy for women and, teenagers, just bringing affordable massage to the community." The item was listed on the agenda as a special exception request for 144 Madison Street; the board took testimony from Goss and voted to approve the request after no audience questions.
Hannah Angermeyer, who identified herself as the purchaser of the property formerly occupied by Aluminum Networks at 51 East High Street, told the board, "we just recently purchased, what's formerly known as an aluminum networks at 51 East High. ... and we're just looking to continue what has been going for the last 20 years here." Tim, a town staff member, explained the prior owners had received a variance more than 20 years ago, that the previous variance had been tied to the prior owner, and that the new owners therefore needed a new variance. Angermeyer also told the board the intent was to continue the property's existing activities, including pottery classes.
Board members moved and seconded motions to approve the minutes, the special exception, and the variance. In each case the board conducted voice votes with no roll-call tallies recorded in the transcript. No public objections or conditions were stated on the record for either zoning action.
The chair also noted that the board will seek confirmation at the Town Plan Commission meeting that Robert wishes to continue serving as the Plan Commission representative to the Board of Zoning Appeals; that confirmation will be taken up by the Plan Commission later and was not acted on by the BZA at this meeting. The meeting concluded after the board voted to adjourn.
