The Sharon Select Board and Sharon School Committee on Feb. 12 appointed Ronnie Goldstein to the Southeastern Vocational Technical School Committee for a term expiring in November 2026.
Goldstein, who is applying to represent Sharon on the regional vocational district, told the joint meeting that he has worked in public education for more than 20 years and has served as an assistant principal in Norton Public Schools. "I'm an educator. It's what I do," he said, summarizing his background and interest in serving the town.
Members of both bodies asked brief questions and welcomed Goldstein’s willingness to serve. School committee member Xander asked how Sharon could improve its representation at the regional school; Goldstein said he wanted to better understand how seats are allocated by member towns and noted that larger member towns such as Brockton typically receive more slots. The select board and school committee then held separate formal votes to confirm the appointment.
The appointment will extend through the state election in November 2026; Goldstein was told that, should he wish to continue beyond that date, he would need to run for the seat at the next state election.
The committee and board members congratulated Goldstein and said they expect a district representative to be in touch soon about next steps.
Ending: Goldstein thanked both bodies for the appointment. The joint meeting then concluded the ceremonial portion of the agenda and the select board continued with its business.
