The Flagler Beach City Commission convened its organizational meeting Thursday evening, swearing in newly elected Commissioner John Cunningham, appointing James Patrick Sherman as chair and Rick Delhumor as vice chair, and adopting routine organizational resolutions.
Mayor Patty King administered oaths to newly elected and returning commissioners. Following a ranked-ballot method among interested members, the commission confirmed James Patrick Sherman as chair by resolution 2025-25 and Rick Delhumor as vice chair by resolution 2025-26; both measures passed on unanimous votes recorded by the clerk.
The commission also adopted a resolution designating bank-signatories for city accounts at Florida PRIME, Florida Municipal Investment Trust, PNC and Truist (Resolution 2025-27), and a resolution declaring the commission duly organized for the year (Resolution 2025-28). All passed unanimously without public comment.
The meeting opened with a ceremonial proclamation by Mayor King designating March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Flagler Beach and invited representatives of the Cedar Bridge Foundation to speak about programming and a community fundraising event.
These organizational steps set the leadership and administrative authorizations for the year and housecleaning items that allow routine city business to proceed.
