Staff told the Planning Commission that the city’s updated code has been published on Code Publishing's website and is now publicly viewable. Planning Manager Stalnacker said the new online code “looks very pretty” and asked commissioners to note administrative edits identified by the publisher.
Staff also flagged a substantive drafting error: a provision that was intended to prohibit drive‑thru service in the town center overlay was inadvertently applied to the Uptown overlay (Meridian corridor), where existing drive‑thrus currently operate. Stalnacker said staff discovered the mismatch while reviewing the published code and recommended bringing a narrow amendment and public hearing in April to restore drive‑thru as an allowed use in Uptown where intended.
The commission did not object to the plan to return with the corrective amendment; staff said the fix can be processed quickly and taken to council after a public hearing.
Staff additionally reminded commissioners about administrative items: a volunteer handbook and signature requests, and that staff will circulate the survey summaries and follow‑up materials ahead of future parking and design discussions.
