The Monroe City Council on March 11 approved the consent agenda and confirmed two mayoral appointees to the Planning Commission by unanimous 7-0 votes.
Council Member Tammy Beaumont moved to approve the consent agenda; a second was recorded and the motion passed 7-0. Later in the meeting the council heard from two appointees.
Tony Bork introduced himself and described his long history in Monroe, noting service on the joint fire board and on the hospital commission. Council Member Beaumont moved to confirm the mayor's appointment of Tony Bork to Planning Commission position 3, with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2028; the motion was seconded and carried 7-0.
Mary Walsh told council she has lived and operated a business in Monroe for five decades and said she was stepping forward to serve. Council Member Kevin Walker moved to confirm Walsh to Planning Commission position 5 with a term ending Dec. 31, 2028; the motion was seconded and the council voted 7-0 to confirm her appointment.
