Brighton council grants perpetual easement to United Power; council member Green recuses

The Brighton City Council on March 4 approved a final-reading resolution granting a perpetual, non-exclusive easement to United Power Inc. for a portion of city-owned real property.
Before the vote, Council Member Green recused himself because his employer has an interest in the matter. Director Scott Olson (referred to in the meeting as Olsen) clarified that the easement exhibits and legal description included in the packet had been uploaded in error; Olson said the presentation’s map showing the correct easement location on the Lutz property was accurate and that the packet documents have now been corrected.
Council Member Snyder moved to approve the easement; Council Member Fiddler seconded. On roll call the motion passed 7–0 with one absence and one recusal (Green).
The resolution authorizes the city manager to execute the easement on behalf of the city. The easement description in the packet was corrected before final action; staff confirmed the correct location map and legal description would be used for the recorded easement.
