Planning Commission briefed on Merced County RTP scoping meeting

City staff told the Planning Commission the Merced County Association of Governments has started its 2026 Regional Transportation Plan process and scheduled a scoping meeting; staff encouraged commissioners to review the RTP materials and participate.
City staff informed the Livingston Planning Commission on March 11 that the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG) has issued a notice of preparation and begun scoping for the 2026 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) and Sustainable Communities Strategy.
Contract City Planner Miguel Galvez said the RTP is a regional program that identifies transportation projects and ties to funding sources including state and federal funds. He noted the MCAG had sent a notice of preparation and is scheduling scoping meetings; the scoping meeting information and a Zoom link appear in the packet (page 4). He encouraged commissioners and staff to review the RTP materials and provide comments through MCAG’s public process.
The commission received the information as an informational item; no action was taken.
The MCAG RTP scoping notice is intended to solicit input on regional projects, transit, and pedestrian improvements that may be eligible for regional and state funding.
