The Muskego-Norway School Board voted on March 24 to amend Policy 115, renaming and expanding committee responsibilities to include legislative updates, student-experience items and district memberships and contracts.
Board discussion focused on inserting clearer language about the new scope. One board member presented proposed language drawn from research of other districts and asked that the committee description include a non-exhaustive list of topics it may consider, such as buildings and grounds, personnel, finance, transportation, food service, district contracts, district memberships and dues, legislative updates, mental-health services, behavior trends, discipline structures, special education services and safety.
The board amended the policy motion on the floor to add explicit references to "district memberships and dues" and "district contracts" in the list of committee considerations. After voice votes the motion as amended passed; the board clerk said the language will be professionally edited and the revised policy will be published.
The board discussed that the change is intended to create a clear, ongoing place to review contracts and memberships that the district holds so the board and staff maintain awareness without requiring every item to come before the full board.
