The hearing produced no formal votes or committee actions beyond opening and closing the public comment period. The subcommittee used the remainder of its time for announcements and to hear members praise the Department of Revenue's responsiveness. Representative Schranz said, "I am very impressed with the Department of Revenue. The team seems to be, working well together and and striving to to take care of the state of Oregon very wholeheartedly." Representative Reschke said her experience with the department on constituent issues has been "second to none," adding that explanations and staff outreach typically resolve misunderstandings caused by department letters.
Senator Manning described a personal casework instance and thanked department leadership: "Director, you resolved my issue that same day in a matter of moments, few hours, whenever you had the chance came by my office and it was like, ****, it's it's done." Several members also praised the department for increased transparency and direct communication with committee chairs.
Committee staff announced there would be no meeting on Monday, March 17, and that the committee has three field trips scheduled the following week, including visits involving the Department of Revenue and the CAMS project. The co-chair also said the subcommittee will hold a public hearing on Senate Bill 5510, a fee bill for the Construction Contractors Board, on Tuesday, March 18.
With no members of the public testifying, the subcommittee closed the hearing on Senate Bill 5536 and adjourned the meeting.
