Resident says limited parking at Henkin Manor senior housing poses safety hazard

A Phoenixville resident on March 11 urged borough council to address what he described as a dangerous parking shortage at Henkin Manor, a senior housing building on Buchanan Street.
"We only have 32 parking spots for 50 people who live in the building. Most of the people in that building are disabled. They use wheelchairs and walkers and canes to get around," said Nicholas Twitarello, who identified himself as a Henkin Manor resident. He said the building’s owner (he named the company as "Arben") operates the property with Section 8 tenants and lower-income residents, and that many cannot safely cross Route 113 to use a public lot across the street.
Twitarello asked council to "come up with a solution to have more parking spots," and said visiting family members and friends compound the shortage in evenings. He framed the concern as a safety issue for severely handicapped residents who cannot manage the street crossing and requested the borough consider options to increase parking or improve safe access.
