David Frye, speaking for district operations, said each Chromebook costs $275.62 and each license $32.07; the recommended purchase and licenses total $399,997 and the funds are available in the district’s general purpose operating budget.
Frye said the district had originally budgeted for more grade levels but is moving forward this year with two grades and expects to continue a two-grade annual deployment going forward. The board approved the purchase by voice vote; individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the meeting transcript.
The district will deploy the devices as part of its 1-to-1 student device program. No implementation timeline beyond “this year” was specified in the presentation. The district stated the funds were available in the operating budget; no new borrowing or bond issuance was described.
