The board also approved first readings of ACAA (harassment of students and Title IX harassment of students), ACAB (harassment of employees and Title IX harassment of employees) and AC (nondiscrimination, equal opportunity and affirmative action), along with associated complaint procedures (ACAA‑R, ACAB‑R). The board approved deletion of procedures ACAA‑R2 and ACAB‑R2.
Board members reviewed the policy text with attention to formatting and wording. Robbie, a board member, questioned a title typo that read “unlawful harassment” and pushed to remove the word “unlawful” from the policy title; the board agreed to strike the typo and to clean up redline formatting before the second reading.
The board discussed and approved the 2025–26 school calendar. The primary calendar change moves a January workshop to March to allow participation in a regional rendezvous; the regional calendar alignment also produced a two‑week Christmas break. Board members spent substantial time discussing half‑day Wednesdays and the district’s approach to remote learning for weather events. Superintendent Katie said the administration will bring more data on professional‑development outcomes and that remote learning, if used, would be accompanied by guidance and supports for teachers; she also said parents can seek excused absences for hardship on weather days.
Board members announced a public hearing and budget workshop at Oak Hill High School on March 19 at 5:30 p.m.; the public hearing will accept comment on the planned April 8 vote about closing Savannah Primary School, but no board vote will occur at the March 19 hearing.
Votes on the policies, procedures and calendar were recorded during the meeting; when motions were carried the transcript records the board saying “all those in favor” and approving the items. Individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the transcript.
