The Mooresville Town Redevelopment Commission voted to award a $76,300 contract to Electric Plus Inc. to install lighting in the East Main parking lot.
Commission members reviewed three bids for the lighting package for East Main and the alley parking area and heard from a staff member that consultant Banning had compared the proposals and recommended awarding the work to the lowest bidder, Electric Plus Inc. The other bids were from Orfee Construction Inc. ($94,550) and RM and M Electric ($102,200).
The staff member told commissioners this lighting work takes place inside the alley and will not be impacted by the town’s separate Main Street project scheduled for 2026. The packet included a notice of award and a recommendation letter from Banning to proceed with the low bidder.
The staff member noted a small related line item — line paint (line item No. 10) — and said that additional striping will occur as part of the Main Street project next year. When asked about timing, the staff member said construction should begin “soon” once the commission gives the contractor the green light.
A commissioner moved to award the contract to Electric Plus Inc. in the amount of $76,300; the motion was seconded and passed. The commission directed staff to complete paperwork and issue a notice of award so the contractor can proceed.
The commission packet did not specify a contract number or an exact start date for construction. Banning’s recommendation and the three bid amounts were entered into the record.
