Local Rotary chapter seeks county support for human-trafficking awareness campaign

Mark Lipps, who identified himself as owner of Right Choice Farm and Catering and an area governor for Lake County Rotary Clubs, invited the supervisors to a Rotary lunch meeting and asked for county support for anti–human-trafficking outreach.
Lipps said Rain Howell, executive director of the Polyclass Foundation, will speak at the lunch and that local Rotaries are raising awareness about human trafficking. “One of the corridors for that is Highway 20, from east to west,” Lipps said, and he proposed billboards around Clear Lake and posters in schools to make trafficking less easily concealed.
Lipps said California is now the top state for human trafficking and described Lake County as “an easy county to hide in” because of available parking and transit routes. He invited supervisors to attend the lunch at 12 p.m. at Lake Event Design, 1855 South Main Street in Lakeport.
No formal county commitment or motion was made during the public-comment period; the remark was an invitation and a request for future support from supervisors and county staff.
Lipps said his Rotary clubs plan to coordinate the local campaign and seek “support at the county level as well when we get to really putting our plan into action.”
