The board approved a change of scope for Camp Monarch operated by Covenant to expand services beyond a single site (Noni’s House) to other community centers and schools where families need support.
Program staff said transportation has been a barrier for some children and families and that allowing Camp Monarch to operate at additional community locations will help meet families where they are. The program committee reviewed the request in January and recommended approval; the full board voted in favor at tonight’s meeting.
Staff noted related community activity in pediatric palliative services — including expanded activity by VITAS following its acquisition of some Covenant hospice functions — but said that activity does not conflict with Camp Monarch’s requested expansion. The approved change of scope will be incorporated into the program’s year‑three contract terms.
Ending: The board approved the change of scope; staff will amend year‑three contract language to reflect the expanded service area and bring contract language to the board as part of the next program committee review process.
