WOODBURY COUNTY, Iowa 2D During the public comment period, resident Robin Shireau told the Board of Supervisors she intends to start a recall petition against the Woodbury County sheriff and presented the board with allegations of criminal activity she said took place in the county.
Shireau identified herself as living in Elk Point and described alleged offenses she said included human trafficking, racketeering, murder, kidnapping, torture, grand larceny, forgery and fraud. She said she had previously contacted the sheriff27s office and the board but had not received a response. "If he's not willing to do what he was elected to do, then I know as a previous county commissioner I am gonna submit recall petition against him and to have him removed as an elected official," Shireau told the board.
Shireau asked the county auditor to prepare documents showing the number of signatures required to file a recall; she said she would return to pick up the materials within a week. The board did not take any formal action on her request during the meeting. County staff accepted the paperwork she handed to the board.
