Curtis said precast delivery and erection are still scheduled to begin May 22, and that the structure will be largely precast: “The structure is 85% precast,” he said, adding that progress will accelerate once footings and foundations are in place. He also described procurement concerns: some contractors have told him vendors have warned of potential price increases, so project teams are pushing to finalize submittals and orders now to lock pricing.
Curtis announced a public groundbreaking for the job site on March 19 at 3:30 p.m., with short remarks planned and informal refreshments to follow, weather permitting. He said MidAmerican Energy must complete a temporary power connection for job-site trailers and O’Neal Electric will perform the site temp service; once those steps occur, cranes and precast deliveries should follow the foundation work.
The board also discussed administrative steps tied to the project: the county will receive regular pay applications and Curtis said he intends to attend board meetings every other week to present pay applications and answer questions.
