MPO board approves TIP amendment to add INDOT soil repairs and SR 52 pedestrian work

The Tippecanoe County Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board on March 2025 approved Resolution T25-02 to amend the 2024–2028 Transportation Improvement Program to add three projects requested by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
The amendment programs two district-wide projects to address soil issues and repair mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, plus a sidewalk-and-ramp project on State Road 52 from U.S. 231 to about 1.3 miles east of U.S. 231 near Morehouse Road. Tim, MPO staff member, described the sidewalk work as part of “a larger effort to kind of tie in and get some pedestrian safety and connectivity out there.”
Tim told the board the two MSE wall efforts are district-wide at various locations that include Tippecanoe County. He said the sidewalk and ramp segment is intended to connect with a Morehouse Road project completed by the county and improve pedestrian connectivity in that corridor.
The MPO's Technical Transportation Committee reviewed the amendment at its February meeting and recommended approval, Tim said. The board took a motion to approve the resolution; Gary Schroeder moved the motion and Steve Snyder seconded.
A roll-call vote recorded aye votes from Mayor Erin Easter, Gary Schroeder, Steve Snyder, Cindy Murray, Mike Gibson and Scott Chandler. The motion carried and the amendment was approved.
The board did not provide additional funding detail at the meeting and Tim noted INDOT requested programming of the projects; no local match or construction schedule was specified in the discussion.
