Council sketches agenda for June Washington, D.C., trip; seeks primary/backup leads for key topics

Staff described two June travel options (outbound on Wednesday/meetings Thursday-Friday, return Friday night or Saturday morning). Option 2 (fly-out June 11, meetings June 12-13) drew the most preliminary support among members who were able to indicate availability.
Councilmembers discussed likely areas of focus for congressional and agency meetings: transportation funding and regional projects; water security; housing and affordability; public safety priorities; sustainability; and federal funding and local-control questions. Councilmember Chris Russell offered to be primary for public safety meetings and volunteered for water security as a backup; other preliminary assignments were discussed so staff could prepare briefing packets.
