The Fort Collins Historic Preservation Commission on Feb. 19 voted 8-0 to approve a certificate of appropriateness for the relocation, elevation and rehabilitation of the historic barn at 509 Remington Street.
The commission’s unanimous vote authorizes moving the barn about 5.5 feet east and 7.5 feet north, raising it roughly 39 inches onto a new concrete foundation to reduce flood risk, and converting the historic structure to habitable/support space with a 390-square-foot garage addition to the north. The approval follows a staff recommendation and a structural feasibility study provided by the applicant.
Yanni Jones, historic preservation planner, said the barn and house are city landmarks and part of the Laurel School Historic District.…
