City planning staff reintroduced a request to rezone a tract on Technology Drive and Wire Road as a General Plan Development (GPD) called Branchwater Subdivision, returning the same proposal that had previously been approved in 2022 but allowed to expire.
"We've got 55 lots. They're gonna have public streets, 1 to 2 story homes, ranging from 1,700 to 3,000 square feet," said Zach, a planning staff member, presenting renderings and describing access points off Wire Road. Zach told the council the application mirrors the previously approved planned-unit development; he said the earlier approval expired before work began and the applicant is now seeking the same permission under the new GPD framework.
Zach also said the planning commission had "unanimously recommended for approval." He said the project would use public streets, have typical single-family finishes including cement board siding and brick veneer, and would not change access points from what the commission previously approved.
Council members asked whether a developer had been identified; Zach said the engineer on the application is Longleaf Engineering and that he did not know the developer's identity. Council members did not record a final vote on the refiled rezoning in the transcript excerpt provided.
The item remains on the council agenda for formal consideration and any required public hearings and notices.
