Shelton staff seeks council approval to place notice of intent for 2.5-acre annexation on March 18 agenda

Senior planner Jason Dose told the Shelton City Council on March 4 that a property owner has requested annexation of roughly 2.5 acres on Capitol Hill just north of the city limits along Chestnut Street.
Dose described the item as a notice of intent, part of the state's required legal process for annexations, and asked the council to place Resolution 1368-0225 on the March 18 action agenda. "It's part of the required legal process set by the state. Notice of intent to annex," Dose said. He said the proposed annexation area would accept existing city indebtedness and be assigned neighborhood residential zoning consistent with the comprehensive plan.
Dose told the council there were no development applications pending at the time of the meeting but that the property owner may apply in the future for a short subdivision or similar division. The council moved and seconded the request to place Resolution 1368-0225 on the March 18 action agenda and approved that placement by voice vote.
The resolution cited during the meeting was described as being presented pursuant to RCW 35.14.120. The council did not take final action on annexation at the March 4 meeting; the item was scheduled for consideration at the March 18 meeting.
