The Flagler Beach City Commission announced appointments to the Planning & Architectural Review (PAR) Board on Feb. 27 after interviewing six candidates. The commission named Susie Johnston, Scott Chapus and Barbara Revels as the three applicants receiving the most votes to fill three open seats whose terms expire Feb. 25, 2025.
Applicant pool and selection: Six applicants spoke briefly for the record and answered commissioner questions. Applicants included Sarah Berman, Scott Chapus, Susie Johnston, Paul McKitka, Ralph (RJ) Santore and Barbara Revels (who was not present but was a candidate). The clerk announced the results after commissioners completed ballots and told the six applicants the contest was close and commended their qualifications.
Process notes: The commission thanked all applicants and noted the city has strong interest from qualified residents; commissioners encouraged unsuccessful applicants to reapply for future openings. No formal tally was read into the record for each candidate; the clerk announced the three selected names and the commission completed the appointments at the meeting.
