A meeting participant read a motion recommending the closed session “as permitted by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act for the purpose of discussion and consideration of assignment of employees of the public body concerning the assignment of all broadband authority I’m sorry. Excuse me. For the purpose of discussion or consideration of a personal matter, specifically assignment, performance, and salaries of specific public officers or employees of the public body concerning the county administrator, fire and EMS, and fiber link as permitted by section 2.2-37 a 1 of the Code of Virginia,” and the motion was moved and seconded.
The body’s presiding member called for a voice vote to enter the closed session and said “All in favor, say aye.” The board recessed to closed session.
At the meeting’s return, the board completed a required certification. The chair asked members to certify that, to the best of their knowledge, only matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements had been discussed and that only matters identified in the motion had been considered. Supervisors Johnson, Marshall, Van Hoeven, Hale and Nickel each answered “Aye” on the record, satisfying the board’s certification procedure.
The motion to enter closed session and the subsequent certification were the only formal actions recorded in the transcript segment. The meeting then moved on to the county administrator’s organization of the session.
