Contractor asks committee to extend 30-day permit for storage containers at Hotel Warner site

John Gladue of Northstar Construction Management asked the committee on March 11 for an extension of a temporary permit allowing storage containers, a dumpster and five rented parking spaces near the Hotel Warner.
Gladue said the company rents five spaces on Chestnut Street and has a permit covering the containers and dumpster, but understands the borough permit is only valid for 30 days. He told the committee he is “respectfully requesting an extension for the permit for those containers” while the contractor completes a refresh project at the hotel. Gladue estimated they would likely remain in place another four to six weeks and said the hotel will move the material inside “in short order.”
Gladue said he had reached out to PennDOT and to a PennDOT contact, noting that the location borders a state highway. He said PennDOT’s Ken Kavanaugh had given the project his blessing.
Council and staff discussed the routine nature of such extensions and noted the committee must approve any permit longer than 30 days. A staff member asked Gladue for a business card to ensure proper spelling and to prepare minutes of the request.
