The West Chester Public Works Committee on March 11 approved a set of routine procurement items, accepted minutes and directed the borough Recreation Commission to review and recommend park programming before some events are publicly advertised.
Committee members moved to approve award recommendations for water-treatment chemicals and equipment. Committee discussion identified the items as routine and recommended acceptance; no roll-call vote or individual tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript. The committee also approved the minutes from a prior meeting.
One agenda item — repair of the inlet at North I Street — was withdrawn after staff reported the price came in below the $10,000 threshold that requires committee approval. A separate purchase to install a litter truck body moved forward after staff reported a lower-than-expected price.
In another action the committee approved a motion to direct the Recreation Commission to vet and approve park programming and vendor agreements, with monthly reports back to the borough manager and council. Staff said the commission’s meetings are open to the public and that finalized programs would be posted once approved.
Staff and committee members said they will circulate a list of pending programs to council before the next Tuesday council meeting so members can review them prior to the advertising of events.
Ending: Committee members indicated the items are routine budgeted purchases and operational steps; staff will return with documentation and, where required, formal contract documents for council action.
