Trustees approve design and construction contracts for campus infrastructure projects in roll-call vote

The University of Illinois Board of Trustees approved a package of capital and procurement items by roll-call vote during the Jan. 23, 2025 meeting, voting yes on items 18 through 22.
Item 18 approved the design for the Swine Research Center relocation and modernization at the Urbana campus. Architects from Bailey Edward Design Inc. presented the project scope in committee; the board had reviewed the project in the Audit, Budget, Finance and Facilities Committee prior to full-board consideration.
Items 19 through 21 comprised construction manager or construction contract awards for campus mechanical infrastructure work at UIC: replacement of Westside backup generators, replacement of an HTHW (high-temperature hot water) generator, and a chiller replacement project. The board then approved purchase recommendations in Item 22.
The roll-call votes were read individually; the secretary recorded each trustee's affirmative "Yes to all." The secretary read the roll-call answers from trustees including Basta, Blackwell, Cepeda, Craig Schilling, Gutman, Johnson, Millhouse, Mazan, Phelan (read as "Veil" in one instance), Ruiz and Governor Pritzker, and the chair announced the motions carried.
