Board approves superintendent search contract, playground purchase and technology findings; accepts completed tech project

At its March 10 study session, the Northshore School District Board of Directors voted on four public-action items: awarding a superintendent-search contract, accepting the completion of a technology project, approving a contract for an inclusive playground at Kokanee Elementary, and recording a monitoring finding on the superintendent's compliance with the board's technology policy (P10).

The board moved to award the superintendent search contract to Ray and Associates after interviewing three finalists in a prior meeting. A board member proposed the motion: "I propose that we award the search contract for superintendent of North Shore to Ray and Associates." The motion was seconded and the board voted to approve the award.

The board also accepted as complete one district project over $1 million. Superintendent Michael Tully described the work as "the installation of instructional presentation systems in multiple sites across the district" and recommended the board approve the project as complete. A board member moved and the board approved the project acceptance; the superintendent noted this work was paid from the district's technology levy (not the general fund).

The board approved using the OMNIA cooperative purchasing contract to contract with Landscape Structures Inc. to construct a new inclusive playground at Kokanee Elementary School, scheduled for completion in summer 2025. The superintendent introduced the item: "North Shore School District would utilize on the group purchasing procurement to contract with Landscape Structures Incorporated to complete the construction of a new inclusive playground at Kokanee Elementary School. This project is to be completed during this summer, the summer of 2025." The motion to approve carried.

Finally, the board reviewed a monitoring report on Superintendent Tully's compliance with superintendent parameter policy P10 (technology). After discussion, a board member moved that the board "indicate that the superintendent is in compliance with the policy, P10." The motion was seconded and the board voted to find the superintendent in compliance.

All four action items were announced on the public agenda and were recorded as approved in the meeting minutes. The transcript shows no roll-call vote with named yes/no votes; the board used the standard motion/second and voice-vote procedure and each item was announced as passing.
