Sammamish council reviews draft arts strategic plan, emphasizes public art, events and capacity building

Sammamish City Council on March 11 heard a presentation on the city’s first arts strategic plan, a framework staff and consultant Framework said is intended to align arts and culture initiatives with the city’s broader vision, expand public art and events, and build capacity for local artists and organizations.

“For the record, I’m Anjali Meyer, Director of Parks and Recreation. We are here this evening to provide an update on Sammamish’s first art strategic plan,” said Anjali Meyer as she introduced the presentation. Leslie Bain, principal at consultant Framework, summarized the plan’s goals and public engagement findings.

The plan identifies three primary goal areas: high‑impact public art, a predictable program of events and performances, and capacity building for artists and arts organizations.
