West Chester University trustees adopt campus master plan, authorize phased implementation

Trustees of West Chester University of Pennsylvania voted to adopt a campus master plan and authorized university administration to carry out implementation activities, the Council of Trustees announced at its Dec. 4 meeting.

The resolution noted the plan would be rolled out in phases with periodic updates and possible municipal approvals, and it authorizes the university to prioritize projects, develop funding strategies and engage consultants, contractors and partners to achieve the plan’s objectives.

The motion to adopt the plan was presented in full by Trustee Chris Wright and seconded by Trustee John Ireland. Chair Tommy Tomlinson called for votes and stated there were no negative votes; the resolution passed.

Trustees were told the plan’s implementation will be aligned with evolving institutional needs, available financial resources and changing circumstances. The resolution gives university administration authority to move forward with project prioritization and funding approaches but does not specify a funding source or project timeline in the text of the motion.

The adoption follows earlier presentation of the campus plan materials in the trustees’ meeting packet and discussion during the finance and administration committee. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; the chair reported no negative votes.

The trustees’ action authorizes administrative steps toward implementation but does not itself appropriate funds or finalize municipal approvals, which the resolution recognizes may be required.
