City of Victoria staff: new fire station near Holy Family site moving toward contracts; move-in targeted by end of 2026

City of Victoria staff provided an update on a new fire station planned near the Holy Family site at the corner of County Road 18 and Kochia Lane and said contracts are being finalized so construction can begin.
Melissa (staff member) said the city previously approved the design and bids for the new fire station and that "contracts are being signed and finalized, just to ensure that progress can be started, construction, hopefully this year." Melissa said the project team is still "anticipating move in by end of 2026."
Site and traffic details
Staff said some visible clearing near the site was work related to a Magellan pipeline that runs through the area, not the fire-station contract work. Melissa said the station access will not include a new roundabout and that access to Holy Family High School will remain unchanged. She told the committee there will be "an exit only for emergency respondent vehicles off of 18, but that will be limited just to emergency responding vehicles."
Why it matters: the project relocates and modernizes fire services for the area and will involve coordination with utility owners where underground pipeline access required tree clearing.
