The St. Peter City Council on Jan. 13 adopted a resolution creating a Police Station/City Hall/Transit Building Committee to guide design review and project development for modifications to the Scholarship America building.
City staff said the committee follows a process used for prior city building projects: department directors and transit managers and two elected officials (the mayor and Council member Perez) will serve on the committee. Staff said the committee will meet frequently over the next eight to ten weeks to advance design work and then meet as needed during construction to monitor timelines and budgets.
Todd, the city administrator, described the purpose as providing a structured, process-driven forum for design review and for user departments to provide input before expensive commitments are made. He estimated modifications would occur over the summer into the fall and said the city’s hope is to move into the facility around Thanksgiving, depending on bids and contractor schedules.
The resolution appears on page 117 of the packet; the council approved the resolution by roll call.
