Council accepts $69,500 donation from Schmidt Foundation for library materials

John, a city staff member, presented a donation from the Carl and Berna Schmidt Foundation and asked the council to accept the gift for library materials.
“The donation has come in once again for 2025 in the amount of $69,500,” John said, noting funds support library circulation materials in both digital and physical formats. He told the council the foundation previously provided funds for the library’s rebuild in the early 2000s.
Todd, city administrator, told the council the donation falls under the city’s donation policy and that staff has been careful to budget so that library operations would not depend on the gift. The council approved the resolution accepting the donation by roll call (Council member Johnson, Council member Perez, Council member Ram, Council member Weisenfeld, Council member Scharstrom and Mayor Noel voting aye).
