City economic development staff reported several local business updates during the Wildwood Economic Development Committee meeting.
Mr. Lee said Good News Brewing remains on pace to open in spring 2025 and is close to obtaining a liquor license. Cattails Lodge (16497 Clayton Road) had a February 3 planning-and-zoning hearing for a site-specific ordinance to permit a cat-only boarding facility; staff said that request is moving forward. Cineas Spice (2444 Taylor Road) will hold a city-hosted ribbon cutting Friday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. Mattress Dogs (now assigned 113 Plaza Drive) is open; its ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m., hosted by the West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce with city participation.
Mr. Lee reported that Happy Hounds (2448 Pond Road) โ a dog-park-oriented business โ is listed as temporarily closed across public listings; staff said outreach attempts to the owner had not yet yielded an explanation. St. Louis Community College is on schedule to hold a ribbon cutting in April 2025 with classes beginning in fall 2025, and Bros Fish Shrimp & More and Allied Personal Training are nearing opening or anniversary milestones. Mr. Lee also reported possible new leasing interest in a restaurant space previously occupied by Benedetto's but said details were not yet confirmed.
No formal action was taken on these updates; staff asked committee members to direct questions to the department if they seek additional detail.
