Crestview reports $9.7 million unrestricted cash; updates on Redstone project and animal control facility

City finance staff presented the monthly financial report and cash-carryforward analysis at the Crestview City Council meeting, reporting an unrestricted cash balance of approximately $9,700,000 for the quarter ended in December.
The finance director said the packet included disbursement lists for January and financial statements for November and December. The city manager added the city has begun the audit and budget processes and noted staff had engaged state legislators in Tallahassee about pending programs and funding opportunities.
On capital projects, staff said the Redstone project’s bid has been awarded and a pre-construction meeting occurred with the same contractor that completed Main Street. Work will await delivery of custom drainage structures before major mobilization. City staff also said discussions with a potential donor for a new animal control facility are advancing and that naming-rights conversations are ongoing; the city attorney and manager have been working with that donor.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda by motion of Councilman Hayes and second by Councilman Bollard; that action carried 4-0 with one absence. The finance update did not include additional appropriation requests during the meeting.
