At the Feb. 10 Facilities & Finance meeting, district staff presented an updated long-term capital plan that projects needs over the next five years and beyond, and identified HVAC replacement as the principal cost driver.
A district finance staff member said the plan contains placeholders for projects out to 2050 to help future planning but acknowledged the district will not have funds to accomplish all listed items. Staff said they will re-evaluate priorities each year as conditions and urgency change.
On renewable energy, staff said an RFP for solar was not issued in January as planned because the lead staffer fell ill, but the RFP will be developed and issued this month. The staff member said the RFP timeline should resume provided momentum continues.
Staff said they expect to present additional details in a future meeting, including recent legislative changes that may provide access to additional funding for capital work; staff did not say the funding source is state appropriations but that the change was to state law and would not itself provide referendum-level funding.
Ending: Staff said they will return with a more detailed plan and funding options at a future meeting, including timing for HVAC replacements and the solar-RFP release schedule.
