The Community High School District 128 Program and Personnel committee on March 10, 2025 reviewed routine items that the board will ask the full board to approve at its next regular meeting, including the district’s three-year e-learning plan, annual Illinois High School Association memberships, an updated alternative-education services agreement and several student travel requests.
Dr. Koulentes told the committee the district’s e-learning plan is unchanged from the prior cycle and “we are asking for you to just approve it for our next 3 years.” The committee was told a public hearing on the plan will be held at the start of the next full board meeting to allow public comment before formal action.
Committee members heard that Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools will renew their Illinois High School Association memberships for 2025–26; the committee was told IHSA has waived membership fees in recent years and that renewal will be presented on the consent agenda at the board meeting.
On alternative education, staff described a proposed agreement with the Ombudsman program to allow District 128 to purchase daily slots as needed rather than reserving guaranteed seats. Staff said usage of reserved spots has trended down (the district reduced reserved slots in recent years) and the proposed agreement would let the district pay daily fees only if a placement is needed.
The committee also reviewed standard education-tour requests for spring and summer competitions and received a list of recommended employment items and hires that will be moved to the consent agenda. The committee noted Shannon Garcia is listed as a new assistant principal in the employment recommendations.
No votes were taken in committee on these items; staff said most will appear for formal approval at next week’s full board meeting.
