District 128 recommends ceiling and lighting work at Libertyville High after high bid; disposal list to include totals

District 128 facilities staff told the Facilities and Finance Committee on March 10 that the low bid to complete hallway ceiling and lighting work at Libertyville High School came in at $223,000, well above the district’s $146,000 estimate, and recommended moving the project forward.
Staff said the project will finish ceiling and lighting replacements that began last summer. An architect’s letter included a contingency; staff asked the architect to correct the letter to show the correct $20,000 contingency rather than an earlier $100,000 figure that appeared in a dated letter.
Separately, staff presented a long equipment-disposal spreadsheet — mostly technology items — and agreed to add a total dollar column and indicate disposal method (scrap, recycle, donation) before the item goes to the full board for action. A board member specifically requested the original cost totals and confirmation of the vendor used for recycling and disposal.
No award was finalized at the committee meeting; staff said they will update the architect’s letter, confirm contingency and bring the ceiling and lighting bid and the revised disposal spreadsheet to the March board meeting for formal action.
