CHSD 128 previews March staffing and sectioning timeline; employment action must occur by April 15, district says

At a Feb. 10 CHSD 128 Program and Personnel Committee meeting, a district administrator provided an overview of the district's annual sectioning and staffing process and the schedule that will lead to employment actions in March.

The district administrator said the sequence begins with course modifications in November, curriculum-guide updates in December, course selection in January–February and building- and district-level sectioning reviews in February. "State law says that we need to take employment action by April 15," the administrator said, noting the board will be asked to act at the March 17 board meeting after a March 10 Program & Personnel presentation.

The administrator said the district leadership and teacher-union representatives will review sectioning under the memorandum of agreement used this year, and that affected staff will be notified before the board action. The district also plans to post openings quickly after March so the hiring process can move for the next school year.

The presentation repeated that the March 10 PNP meeting will contain the full sectioning and staffing package for board review and that the board must be prepared to take employment action at the March 17 regular meeting. The administrator said the sectioning overview will be reviewed again in March when the detailed documents are before the board.

Ending: The district will return to the Program & Personnel committee in March with full sectioning and staffing documents ahead of the March 17 employment action. No formal employment votes were recorded during the Feb. 10 meeting.
