Snoqualmie parks commission sets recurring schedule, defers officer elections to next meeting

The Snoqualmie Parks and Events Commission agreed March 11 to establish a regular meeting schedule of 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month and to hold its next meeting on May 13, 2025.

Commission Chair Emily Anderson and Commissioners discussed timing to avoid conflicts with council and staff committee schedules. City Clerk Dina Dean summarized the municipal code provision that commissioners serve two-year staggered terms that expire on Dec. 31; she said terms are already established and the city typically reaches out to commissioners whose terms expire to gauge interest in reappointment.

Commissioners also discussed setting clearer procedures for agenda preparation and for a commission liaison to provide periodic updates to the Parks and Public Works committee. Anderson said the chair will coordinate with the staff liaison in the week before scheduled meetings to prepare agendas; commissioners were asked to submit agenda items by the Tuesday before the meeting.

Elections for commission officers were raised; the group agreed to determine whether elections are required and, if so, to address elections at the next regular meeting in May rather than at the March meeting.

No formal ordinance changes were made; commissioners asked staff to circulate the existing city commission handbook and to return in May with a proposed work plan and a priority list for staff consideration.
