Sandra, a recreation staff member, gave an update on youth and special events programming, saying the out-of-school program serves about 60–70 children daily and that registration opens monthly on the 20th for a fixed number of slots.
"We are almost March so we got April and May 22 will be the last day for the out of school program," Sandra said, and she explained that families must sign up promptly when registration opens on the 20th of each month because slots fill quickly. She estimated the program typically gains "about 5 or 6 new ones every month." The program provides dinner pickup on days when the out-of-school program is operating.
Sandra said the Midtown Supper Club event scheduled for April 22 is sold out. "We are sold out. 200 seats have been sold," she said, describing ticket tiers and table sales. The event will feature returning and new youth chefs in training and include an Earth Day education collaboration with Erie Metro Parks.
On family programming, staff announced spring break camp dates (described in the meeting as "the 20 fourth and the 20 fifth from 10 to 2") and encouraged prompt registration; transcript wording did not specify calendar dates beyond the used phrasing.
Ryan gave an update on Movies by the Bay, saying the program secured a title sponsor. "Aligned Data. That's the new business that is on the old new departure," he said; staff discussed confirming the sponsor's legal name as Aligned Adaptive Data Centers and said the company may host a community open house and attend some screenings.
For community safety education, parks staff announced two sessions of Safety Town in August, sponsored by the Whiteman Weaver Foundation. Safety Town registration will go live the day after the meeting and sessions are scheduled for Aug. 11–14, Monday through Thursday, with morning and afternoon graduations for participants. The program is intended for rising kindergartners (ages 5 and 6), with occasional younger children admitted depending on birthdays.
Staff asked community members to watch published registration times and said additional program details and guides for the season will be released soon.
