City renews priority-use field agreements; Dorn Park concession area put out for RFP

At the meeting, parks staff reported they renewed priority-use agreements with local school districts and community leagues for the season, continuing arrangements that give groups scheduled precedence for specific fields.
"So we've renewed all the priority use agreements that we've had in the past," Ryan said. He explained the agreements allocate specific fields to groups: Sandusky schools have priority for fields 1, 2 and 9; Saint Mary's uses fields 5 and 9 and also uses smaller fields; other groups named included Sandusky Fast Pitch, Sandusky Travelers, AMVETS and Panther Baseball Club. Staff said the agreements include mutual options to continue next year and that groups are expected to provide schedules and participate in field maintenance during their seasons.
Staff said the concession area at Dorn Park has been put out to bid as an RFP. "The concession area for Dorn Park is also up for up for bid," Ryan said; the RFP went live the week before the meeting and staff will publish results after the bid period ends.
Parks grounds staff are prioritizing high-school fields because seasons start earlier. Ryan described equipment and timing: grounds crews will drag and turn fields as weather allows and the grounds crew planned to deliver repaired equipment (a utility Gator) to Dorn to expedite preparation.
No final awards or contract decisions were made at the meeting; staff said they will return with bid results and scheduling details when available.
