Network and facilities District staff described a planned network refresh this summer and requested an immediate cabling update at Moreland and Brady Middle to improve wireless throughput and add access points in some classrooms. Jeanette (district staff) said the work will use remaining funds from this year’s budget and is not an additional expense.
Construction updates Administrators reported substantial progress on the PPLC renovation: the front lobby and door glazing are in place, tile and fixtures in restrooms are nearly complete, and two rooftop HVAC units were installed with three remaining pending weather. Staff said the project remains on target for a mid‑March substantial completion date, though rooftop work depends on warmer weather.
Curriculum and staffing Superintendent and curriculum staff summarized the Feb. 14 professional development day. Director of Curriculum Instruction Shelley Motto reported districtwide work on “high reliability schools” indicators, and administrators said roughly 96 percent of teachers had completed required science‑of‑reading training tied to state guidance. The district also piloted materials for the Benchmark Advance curriculum for Moreland and offered paraprofessional training including sign‑language practice with an Orange High School teacher.
Other notes Board members recognized athletic qualifiers and announced three National Merit Scholarship finalists: Brandon Wong, William Lang and Benjamin Wei. A $3,000 donation from the senior class to the junior class for prom was noted in the treasurer’s report and incorporated into financial consent items.
