Orange Board adopts Ohio Department of Education special education model policies

The Orange Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution on Feb. 24 to adopt the special education model policies and procedures released by the Ohio Department of Education on Dec. 24.
During the meeting Superintendent Doctor Campbell explained the action is required unless the district chooses to develop its own policies. “This is something we're required to do unless we want to develop our own policies,” Doctor Campbell said.
The board moved and seconded the resolution and recorded a unanimous roll-call vote: Mister Bilski — yes; Missus Fish — yes; Doctor Boyle — yes; Mister Lycan — yes.
No amendments or substitute motions were recorded in the meeting. The board did not discuss a district-created alternative policy during the session; the resolution adopts the state model as the district’s official policy framework for special education.
